Hey, rockhit this is mainly to you as you seem to know quite a bit about this sort of thing.

NVIDIA 8500GT SLI 1024MB DDR 2 PCI EXPRESS GRAPHICS CARD
Bus Interface - PCI Express
Memory - 1024Mb
Memory Interface - 128 bit
RAMDACs - 400Mhz
Full microsoft Direct X10 Shader Model Support
128 bit floating HDR lighting
Nvidia unified archetecture with Gigathread technology
Nvidia Quantum effects
Dual link DVI outpus suports 2560x1600

Basically is this any good? looking at getting a pc, this is the GFX caard that comes with it. Main concern is the 128bit as opposed to 256bit. Would I be able to play games like crysis etc with this card?

Open to replies from anyone who knows about GFX cards

I had a 8600 gts, which would run anything out not a dream

that gfx card will run it all find, although as you say the 128 as aposted to 256 is diff, howerver taht wil not become a prob now

als the fact it has a gb of ram on the card is always helpfull.

yes it is a pretty good card, obviously I would recommend a 8800 series card but they are not needed

also it is good to have sli ready (duel cards) but i would not bother then going and buying another 8500 and dueling them as single is fine and 2 would not change much

yes good card, what is the spec of pc>?

Intel Quad core 2 (Q6600)
Asus P5N-E SLI Nforce 650
4GB DDR2 Ram (667Mhz, PC5300)
500GB HDD
20x dvd-DL writer

+ delivery = 500 (GBP)

Im thinking of getting it and then can save up and get any other bits and bobs needed. I wont go for SLI at first definitly, if need be then after a while i will up the gfx card and then possibly sli a newer one when the time is right.

the other option is a 360

Quad core 2 (Q6600)
2GB DDR
400GB HDD
Dual layer DVD writer
ASROCK 4 CORE DUAL SATA2 MOTHERBOARD
NVIDIA 7200GS 512MB TURBO CACHE DDR 2 PCI EXPRESS GRAPHICS CARD

Of course if i got this one then i could spend the extra 140 on a better gfx card, was passed on this link

http://www.tekheads.co.uk/s/product?product=608736

but I dont really like the look of this one because the motherboard supports a max of 2gb as opposed to the 8gb of th Asus, less ram and smaller hdd.

not a bad build, did u build it or a prebuilt 1?

btw I would rather put money from 7200 and the 9600 and get an 8800 as they are way better

I have a 8800GTs and is 3rd from top of all the gfx cards out now

btw if u did build that, u will also need an operating system and a case Very Happy

ad power supply
