PC help

okay.. basically my rents are gonna get a new pc as a home 1.. cheapo 300quid job. however, they said that i can get the new 1 n they get my current 1. basically, need to know:
Views on AMD vs INTEL
will come with vista, but will sort out to get a duel boot
1gb ram, can get an extra 1gig for 20quid so will probs do that.
Il just get my current gfx card put into the new pc and they can have my old 1

sounds good charlie personally i would go for AMD, my m8s used to have intell and there games wouldnt run aswell as mine so i would say that.

ok here the facts for it all:

processor:
if u gonna get a processor at the mo the intel core 2 duo wipe the floor with amd, as they have no equivilent so that is the best (unless u getting a quad!!!)

operating system wise:

vista plays games better and runs them, however, with any new operating system there are bugs, I work at a gaming net cafe and when they got vista there were lots of problems getting some games to work (currently with company of heros opposing fronts)

2gb ram: FINE!

and moving the graphic card into the new pc is fine, but is ur card pci-express or agp out of interest??

agp is fine but if u get a bit of extra casr gert a pci-e as it work games etc better.

yeah as rock hit says you should deffo spend that extra £20 and get that extra gig of ram i find thats the crucial thing you need when playing new games, i think i have 1.8 or summit and it runs crisis well with the occasional slow down so 2 would be perfect

and also i have a dual core and its sweet so i would recommend that

ok, got a ATI x1650pro (512mb) AGP, might get a PCI, gotta figure out if i can spare the cash

getting the extra ram, because on vista, (checked on my dads laptop) it uses 512mb just to run, let alone when your running apps and games.

So you reckon an Intels better.. klkl, never owned an AMD so dont know how they differ, but INTELS kl

it is recommended that you use at least 1 gb of ram when running vista, so u want double at least.

if u turn the settings down on vista then it wil not use as much but as i say 2gb better.

PCI-E is a def to get if you can (duel cards even better) but an agp will do for the min if u not got the cash.
